BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Freshman Joshua Loeschorn's stellar freshman campaign continued Monday afternoon at the LIU Post Baseball Stadium as he struck out 12 and held the New York Institute of Technology scoreless in the LIU Post baseball team's 5-0 victory over the Bears.

Along with striking out 12 in 8.2 innings and not allowing a run, Loeschorn limited the Bears to four hits and two walks as he moved his record to 8-0 on the season. Redshirt senior Robert Paccione also saw action on the mound in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Senior Michael Manzione hit a home run for the Pioneers while senior Dave Brehm, senior Anthony Vaglica and sophomore Christopher Wasson also had hits with Manizone and Brehm each adding an RBI.

The Pioneers got off to a strong start after Brehm knocked an RBI double to left center in the bottom of the first to give LIU Post a 1-0 lead. LIU Post would earn three-consecutive walks in the inning and end the frame with a 3-0 advantage.

Manzione gave LIU Post a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third after blasting a home run over the center field fence.

The Bears' vaunted offense was unable to chip away at LIU Post's lead as Loeschorn struck out the side in the top of the fifth then fanned another three in the top of the sixth along with two in the top of the seventh.

In the bottom of the seventh Vaglica scored on a passed ball and gave the Pioneers a 5-0 lead, which they held onto for the remainder of the contest.
