Wrestling Drops Dual Match to Clarion, 39-7

COMPLETE RESULTS

CLARION, Pa. –
The LIU Post wrestling team could not overcome an early deficit as it fell short in a dual match with Clarion University, 37-9 on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

The Golden Eagles opened the match with two pinfall victories and a technical fall victory at 125, 133, and 141 to jump out to a 17-0 lead. The Pioneers got on the scoreboard when freshman Chris Gomez earned an 11-0 major decision victory against Austin Jamison, but it was as close as LIU Post would get the rest of the way.

Clarion clinched the match victory despite losing the 174-pound bout when senior Dan Arkow defeated Mitch Dean for the final points of the evening for the Pioneers. The Golden Eagles secured wins in the final three bouts of the night, including a pinfall victory at 197.

Gomez improves to 6-1 on the year individually with the win at 149 and Arkow improved to 7-1 with his victory at 174.

LIU Post is back in action at the Virginia Duals this weekend, opening the event against Liberty University.
