ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The LIU Post men's soccer team stayed perfect in East Coast Conference play with a 3-0 victory at Molloy College Saturday, Sept. 22.
Graduate student
Lukas Ostermann scored his eighth goal of the season and junior
Yohance Alexander added his first tally in a Pioneer uniform during the victory. Senior
Oliver Hessner Hansen compiled three saves to earn the shutout-victory in goal.
LIU Post recorded three shot attempts through the opening 10 minutes before Molloy countered with two shots on goal moments later that were turned aside by Hessner Hansen. The Pioneer offense broke through during the 32nd minute when Ostermann took a cross from senior
Vittorio Argeri and scored from close range. Late in the half, the lead doubled as the Pioneers capitalized on an own goal by Molloy to take a 2-0 advantage into the half.
The Pioneers had a great opportunity midway through the second half when freshman
Atha Coutroumpas fired a shot on target and classmate
Anton Ocampo bounced a rebound attempt off the crossbar. It was not until the 84th minute when Argeri notched his second assist of the day, finding Alexander with a cross for the final goal of the contest.
With the win, LIU Post improves to 5-1 on the season, extending its current win-streak to five games. The Green and Gold will look to keep the trend going on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at home when it hosts Queens College at 4:00 p.m.
