BROOKVILLE, N.Y. –
On a day that saw graduate student Joe Calderone prevail in both matches at 141 and junior Dan McClure earn a pair of wins at 184, the No. 19 LIU Post wrestling team fell 25-16 to No. 16 Kutztown University then suffered a 27-19 setback against East Stroudsburg University Saturday inside the Pratt Recreation Center.
 
No. 19 LIU Post vs. No. 16 Kutztown
While the Pioneers were stuck with a 7-0 deficit early after losses at 125 and 133, Calderone earned a victory via fall over Anthony Petril at 141 in 1:01 to narrow Kutztown's lead to 7-6.
 
The Golden Bears then earned victories at 149 and 155 to take a 17-6 lead but the Pioneers battled their way back to reduce the deficit; freshman Kenny Cooper earned a 9-4 decision over Reed Custer at 165, senior Dan Arkow picked up a 9-3 decision over James Meyer at 174 and McClure defeated Conor Rogovich 11-4 at 184 which led to the Pioneers trailing by only two points, 17-15.
 
LIU Post's comeback attempt was halted following losses at 197 and 285 as the Golden Bears ultimately prevailed with a final score of 25-16.
 
No. 19 LIU Post vs East Stroudsburg
The Warriors got off to a strong start, earning wins at 125 and 133 to take an 11-0 lead. LIU Post battled back with Calderone picking up his second win of the day at 141 as he earned a 6-3 decision over Dylan Nace then freshman Chris Gomez earning a victory at 149 after pinning Chris Smith at 5:25 to narrow the Warriors' lead to 11-9.
 
Freshman Anthony Dushaj then gave LIU Post a 13-11 lead, its first of the dual, thanks to his 10-0 major decision over Chris Smith. East Stroudsburg then picked up wins at 165 and 174 to take a 21-13 lead.
 
McClure helped the Pioneers trim the Warriors' lead to 21-16 after his 8-2 decision at 184 over Dylan Warner and freshman Dan Shafran narrowed it to 21-19 after a 10-7 decision over Nick Klinoff at 197.
 
After suffering a loss at 285 the Pioneers comeback was halted and the Warriors came out on top with a final score of 27-19.
