GILBERT, Ariz. - Coming off a 3-0 week that included a victory over top-ranked East Stroudsburg, the LIU Post field hockey team moved up four spots to No. 4 in this week's edition of the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association Top-10 poll, as released on Tuesday.
The Pioneers picked up four first-place votes and a total of 175 points for the fourth-place spot. East Stroudsburg, who fell to the green and gold on Thursday (Sept. 14) by a score of 3-1, maintained a hold of the top spot securing seven first-place vote and 200 total points.
Shippensburg and West Chester came out in the second- and third-best rankings, respectively. The Pioneers and the Rams are set to face-off on Thursday, Oct. 5 in West Chester, Pa. for a 4 p.m. start.
Besides upsetting the No. 1 Warriors, other highlights of the week included junior
Emily Miller (Bridgewater, N.J.) and freshman
Sammy Bell (Milngavie, Glasgow, United Kingdom) being tabbed the Northeast-10 Conference Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week.
The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday (Sept. 20) when they host Adelphi for a 4 p.m. tilt at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
