WEST NYACK, N.Y. (Apr. 23, 2017) - On Saturday, the LIU Post men's and women's outdoor track and field teams combined for seven individual league titles at the East Coast Conference Championships at Clarkstown South High School in West Nyack.

The men's team, which finished third out of six teams, captured top billing in a pair of relays.

In the 4 x 100-meter relay, the foursome of senior Stefan Adams (Jamaica, N.Y.), red-shirt juniors Ramel Joseph (Jamaica, N.Y.) and Kyle Ward (Elizabeth, N.J.) and red-shirt sophomore Kasim Thomas (Bronx, N.Y.) won the event in 42.90.

Then, in the 4 x 400-meter relay, the group of Adams, Ward, sophomore Jermaine Ifill (Flushing, N.Y.) and freshman Jeffrey Reyes (Bay Shore, N.Y.) teamed up for a winning time of 3:23.02.

Junior Ryan Gioe (Huntington Station, N.Y.) finished first in the 10,000-meter run at 34:36.63. He beat the second-place runner by over 30 seconds.

Adams came in second in the 200- and 400-meter dash, clocking respective times of 22.62 and 48.87. Ward followed in third in the 200-dash at 22.70.

Freshman Justin Ortega (Bay Shore, N.Y.) posted individual second- (16.39) and fourth-place finishes (58.40) in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles. Reyes placed third in the 1,500-meter run at 4:06.36. Thomas sprinted to a fifth-place time of 11.38 in the 100-meter dash.

In the field events, freshman Liam Hendricks (St. James, N.Y.) came in second in the discus, after a throw of 43.55 meters (142 feet, 10 inches). He was also third in the shot put (12.45 meters) and fifth in the hammer throw (33.69 meters). Red-shirt freshman Angelo Fradelakis (Patchogue, N.Y.) took second in the hammer throw (35.53 meters) and third in the javelin (47.23 meters).

Freshman Twary McKenzie (Huntington, N.Y.) leapt to a third-place mark of 12.78 meters (41 feet, 11.25 inches) in the triple jump and added a fifth-place finish (6.20 meters) in the long jump.

The women's team, which placed third out of seven teams, was led by freshman Kaitlyn Klein (Richmondville, N.Y.), who broke the school records in the discus (36.49 meters) and shot put (12.42 meters).

She came in first in the discus and second in the shot put, while winning the hammer throw with a toss of 39.40 meters (129 feet, 3 inches).

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, graduate Ashlin Conroy (Syosset, N.Y.) won the event in 11:44.08. She also teamed up with sophomore Kaitie Schillaci (Albany, N.Y.) and freshmen Nicolette Agostinacchio (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Alexandria Okon (Laurel, Md.) for a first-place time of 9:44.45 in the 4 x 400-meter relay.

Junior Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) placed third in the 1,500- (4:42.93) and 5,000-meter run (18:09.12). Okon and Agostinacchio finished third (2:21.55) and fifth (2:23.96) in the 800-meter run, respectively.

Graduate Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) raced to a second-place clocking of 38:46.94 in the 10,000-meter run.

Freshman Nicole Costanzo (Nesconset, N.Y.) eclipsed a second-place height of 1.50 meters (4 feet, 11 inches) in the high jump. She was sixth in the long jump (4.78 meters) and triple jump (9.98 meters), as well.

Lastly, junior Kari Kyrkjeboe Fredheim (Nannestad, Norway) came in fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 34.11 meters (111 feet, 11 inches).

Head Coach Kevin Buckley and the Pioneers return to action next week (Apr. 27-28), when they compete at the 123rd-annual Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
