CHANDLER, Ariz. (Sept. 27, 2016) - For the first time in program history, the LIU Post field hockey team has been listed at No. 1 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II Poll, announced Tuesday.
The Pioneers, who are 6-0 on the year, are the only remaining unbeaten team in the country. They also beat their third nationally-ranked opponent of 2016 on Saturday (Sept. 24), handling then-No. 5 Stonehill, 3-0.
LIU Post received 176 points and nine first-place votes to claim the top spot in the poll. East Stroudsburg dipped to No. 2, amassing 168 points and seven first-place nods. Shippensburg remained third with 145 points and three first-place votes.
Through six games, the Pioneers have currently allowed the second-fewest goals (4) in the Northeast-10 Conference. Additionally, they rank fourth in Division II in scoring margin (+2.1 goals per game) and fifth in goals-against average (0.65).

Raenee Savin and her LIU Post squad return to action Thursday (Sept. 29), when they host Pace University in a non-conference tilt at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 4 p.m. in Brookville, N.Y.
