2016 Synapse Sports Division II All-America Team
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 5, 2016) - On Monday, LIU Post sophomore forward/midfielder
Emily Miller (Bridgewater, N.J.) and senior midfielder
Steph Mocerino (Andover, N.J.) were named to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association and Synapse Sports Division II All-America teams.
Miller earned a spot on the NFHCA and Synapse Sports All-America First Team in 2016, after garnering All-Northeast-10 Conference first-team recognition. She ranked second in the league in goals (21) and points (47) and fourth in Division II in goals per game (1.05) and points per game (2.35).
Miller, who tallied a point in 18 of the Pioneers' 20 games this season, also scored a pair of hat tricks and a conference-best 10 game-winning goals, including the overtime winners against Saint Anselm in the NE-10 Championship and the NCAA Division II National Semifinals.
Mocerino was selected to the NFHCA and Synapse Sports All-America Second Team. She was the Pioneers' second-leading scorer this year with 18 points (6 G, 6 A). Additionally, four of Mocerino''s six tallies came on penalty strokes.
Freshman midfielder
Arantxa Rosainz Caloca (Guadalajara, Mexico) was honored on the Synapse Sports All-Rookie Team. She collected five goals and two assists in 2016 for a 12-point output, and helped to lead a defensive unit that paced the league and ranked fifth in the nation in goals-against average (0.92).
