Wrestling Clipped By Kutztown, 19-18
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 18, 2016) - The LIU Post wrestling team fell short Sunday in a 19-18 loss to Kutztown University at the Pratt Recreation Center.
Despite being tied 18-18 after 10 bouts, the Golden Bears (2-1) won the dual, based on winning more matches via fall.
Down 6-0 through two bouts, the Pioneers (4-2) reeled off four straight victories to take a 15-6 lead.
First, at 141, senior
Vinny Turano (Wantagh, N.Y.) teched Ryne Morrison (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) by a 17-0 count.
Fellow senior
T.J. Fabian (Wading River, N.Y.) followed that up with a go-ahead 10-5 decision over Chad Haegele (Warrington, Pa.) at the 149-lb. weight class.
Red-shirt junior
Jackson Mordente (Farmingville, N.Y.) then claimed a 6-1 victory against James Meyer (Downingtown, Pa.) at 157, before junior
Ed Ramirez, Jr. (Massapequa, N.Y.) majored Connor Rogovich (Cherry Hill, N.J.), 14-3, in the 165-lb. bout.
Shortly thereafter, Kutztown tied the score (16-16), until junior
Jake Horton (Medford, N.Y.) put LIU Post back in front with a 3-2 win versus Christian Jenco (Mahwah, N.J.) at 197.
