CHANDLER, Ariz. (Nov. 8, 2016) - Senior goaltender
Ericka Parks (Nesconset, N.Y.) of the LIU Post field hockey team was tabbed as the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Parks totaled eight saves last week in helping the Pioneers capture the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. She stopped three shots in Thursday's 3-0 semifinal victory against Stonehill, before recording five saves Sunday in a 2-1 overtime win at Saint Anselm in the title game.
Entering NCAA Tournament play, Parks leads the NE-10 in goals-against average (0.90) and fewest goals allowed (16). Her 0.90 GAA also ranks fifth-best in Division II.
Parks and her LIU Post side have earned the No. 1 seed in the East Region of the 2016 NCAA Division II Championship. They will face either second-seeded Saint Anselm College or third-seeded Stonehill College in a national semifinal match-up on Friday, Nov. 18 at Stonehill's W.B. Mason Stadium in Easton, Mass.
