BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Apr. 1, 2015) - Five different players tallied at least two goals on Wednesday, as the No. 9/11 LIU Post women's lacrosse team cruised to a 13-4 win against East Coast Conference foe Bridgeport at Knights Field.

Despite giving up the game's opening goal, the Pioneers (9-2, 4-0 ECC), who won their sixth in a row, scored six unanswered goals in the final 20:06 of the first half to take a 6-1 lead into the break.

Senior midfielder Jenna Pierro (Holbrook, N.Y.) netted two of her three goals in the first 30 minutes. Red-shirt sophomore attacker Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) added a goal and a pair of assists.

Nearly midway through the latter stanza, LIU Post still maintained the same five-goal cushion, until a five-goal run by the Pioneers in a near six-minute stretch put the game away for good.

Pierro, Delaney and junior defender/midfielder Kaitlin Gaghan (North Massapequa, N.Y.) all found the back of the cage on unassisted efforts. Delaney also picked up a helper on a goal by sophomore midfielder Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.).

Delaney finished the contest with a game-high five points (2 G, 3 A). Bird totaled three points (2 G, 1 A), along with three ground balls, three caused turnovers and two draws. Gaghan and junior defender/midfielder Honey Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) netted two goals apiece.

Between the pipes, freshman goalie Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and junior cageminder Kasey Kephart (Nesconset, N.Y.) combined to make eight saves for the green and gold. Junior goalie Megan Carney (Norwalk, Conn.) stopped five shots for Bridgeport (7-1, 3-1 ECC).

Overall, the Pioneers held a 24-21 edge in shots and a 17-8 advantage in ground balls. Additionally, they won 11 draw controls to the Purple Knights' eight.

Head Coach Meghan McNamara and her LIU Post squad are back in action next Wednesday (Apr. 8), when they battle East Coast Conference arch-rival and No. 17 Dowling at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville, N.Y. The opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
