MANCHESTER, N.H. (Sept. 19, 2014) - With about four minutes to go in the game, junior forward Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) of the No. 4 LIU Post field hockey team tied the score at 2-2, sending the Pioneers and Saint Anselm into overtime on Friday.

Early in the first half, the Hawks (3-1) went up by two goals, after Rose Mooney and Allia Connolly found the back of the cage at 7:41 and 13:15, respectively.

LIU Post's Stephanie Ruhle (Wanaque, N.J.) then cut the green and gold's deficit in half. With just over 12 minutes remaining in the opening stanza, she put home a cross-pass from Lyn-Marie Wilson (Bridgetown, Barbados, W.I.) to make it a 2-1 game, which was the score at halftime. Through 35 minutes of play, the Pioneers (2-1) had attempted seven shots, while sophomore keeper Meredith Stocklin (Mount Laurel, N.J.) registered two saves to her credit between the pipes.

The second half saw many chances for LIU Post as it took nine total shots. At the 52:39 mark, Margiotta shot at a wide-open cage, but Saint Anselm freshman Elizabeth Allie denied the Pioneer goal with a defensive stop. Margiotta later connected with Wilson in the circle, however, to tie the contest at 2-all in the dwindling minutes of regulation.

Eight minutes into overtime, Saint Anselm sophomore forward Canada Stewart scored her second goal of the season that ended the match 3-2 in favor of the Hawks.

The Pioneers outshot their competition, 20-7, with a 12-3 edge in penalty corners.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and the LIU Post field hockey team will continue their campaign on Tuesday (Sept. 23), when they face East Stroudsburg in East Stroudsburg, Pa. The start time is set for 4 p.m.
