A two-year veteran of the LIU Post wrestling team, Turano led the team in technical falls and was top-10 in the nation.

While with the Pioneers, the Wantagh, NY native was selected to the D2WCA All-Academic Second Team. 

Prior to Post Turano wrestled at Nassau Community College, where he placed third at the NJCAA Region XV Tournament. He received a bevy of accolades and was a two-time Nassau County finalist, Conference A1 Champion, Nassau County Champion and New York State third-place finisher.
