Patterson Named All-Met Player of the Year, Hudson Second Team

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association announced its Division II women's basketball awards on Tuesday, April 23, garnering LIU Post forward Sasha Patterson as the area's Player of the Year while also selecting guard Taylah Hudson to the All-Met squad.
 
Patterson, the reigning East Coast Conference Player of the Year and a 2018 All-Met first team selection, grabbed Player of the Year honors after averaging a double-double on the season with 15.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Her 10 rebounds led the ECC and ranked 37th nationally, though Patterson's most dominating aspect of her game came on the offensive glass where she ranked second in the country with 152 offensive boards. This season she shot 55.1-percent from the field and ranked 16th in the country with 16 double-doubles. Along the way she tallied her 1,000th point in an LIU Post uniform and grabbed her 1,000th collegiate rebound.
 
Hudson garners her first All-Met selection of her career after also earning all-conference accolades for the first time. Hudson started all 29 of her appearances, averaging 8.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. On the year, Hudson handed out five or more assists on six occasions and scored a career-high 22 points at Felician.
