BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Another dominant day on the mound from freshman
Joshua Loeschorn led the LIU Post baseball team past the University of Bridgeport 5-1 Tuesday afternoon at the LIU Post Baseball Stadium.
Loeschorn only allowed one earned run, one walk and two hits while striking out eight in his third complete game of the season to improve his record to 6-0 on the season and lead LIU Post to its third victory out of four games in its series with the Purple Knights.
Senior
Michael Manzione went 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run while senior
Anthony Vaglica and sophomore
Christopher Wasson each had two hits one RBI.
The Pioneers took an early lead after Wasson scored on a passed ball and Vaglica knocked an RBI double to left center in the bottom of the first. Junior
Zach Fritz scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the second to give LIU Post a 3-0 advantage in the bottom of the second.
While the Purple Knights added a run in the top of the third, LIU Post built its lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth after an RBI single to left center by freshman
David Franchi. Wasson ripped an RBI single to right field in the bottom of the eighth and the Pioneers held on for the win with a final score of 5-1.
