FLUSHING, N.Y. – Senior Julia Seader and junior Megan Sneeden each hit two home runs and the duo of senior Hannah Olshevski and junior Katie Humhej tossed two shutouts as the LIU Post softball team swept Queens College in East Coast Conference play on Monday, April 1.

The opening series with the Knights was postponed due to rain on Sunday, March 31, but the Pioneers showed no signs of struggle with the extra day off. Seader led the Pioneers with four total hits to go with the two long balls and Sneeden drove in three runs with her two homers. Sophomore Hanna Finkelstein and junior Abbey Fortin collected one extra-base hit.

Game One: LIU Post 5, Queens 0

It was the Seader Show during the opener, as the senior catcher opened the game with two home runs during her first two at-bats to give LIU Post an early 4-0 lead. After a solo homer during the top of the first, Seader launched a three-run home run over the fence in right field to give Humhej more than enough run support the rest of the way.

Humhej was dominant all day, allowing just five base runners during the contest en route to her third shutout of the season. The right-hander struck out seven batters on the day her second-highest total on the year.

Sneeden added a solo home run during the sixth inning for her first of the day to help the Pioneers open with the 5-0 victory.

Game Two: LIU Post 8, Queens 0 (6 Inn.)

Sneeden picked up where she left off as she joined Seader by homering in consecutive at-bats when she hit a two-run home run during the second inning to give LIU Post a 2-0 lead. The Pioneers added two more runs during the fourth, scoring on a base hit by senior Leah Mele and an RBI-groundout by sophomore Patricia Dun.

The Pioneers reached the eight-run mercy rule during the sixth inning when Fortin drove in two runs with a double to right-center field and LIU Post added two more on a fielding error.

Olshevski scattered six hits on the day, striking out three batters.  The senior needed just 60 pitches to go the distance to improve to 9-3 in the circle this season.

The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday, April 3 when they travel to Post University for a non-conference doubleheader at 2:00 p.m.
