BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Behind a complete game from freshman Joshua Loeschorn, the LIU Post baseball team defeated Saint Thomas Aquinas College 3-1 to earn the series sweep and move to 8-0 in East Coast Conference (ECC) play Monday afternoon at the LIU Post Baseball Field.

Loeschorn had a stellar day on the mound as he went the distance, tying his career-high in strikeouts with six and only allowing one run, one walk and three hits. LIU Post was exceptional defensively as it did not have an error and recorded two double plays.

Senior Dave Brehm and junior Zach Fritz each had one hit and one RBI for the Pioneers while redshirt-junior Andy Camilo and freshman Giovanni Ciaccio also both recorded hits.

The Pioneers were the first team to score after they took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second after senior Anthony Vaglica scored on a passed ball.

An RBI single to left field in the bottom of the fourth by Fritz gave LIU Post a 2-0 lead and the while the Spartans scored on a balk in the top of the fifth, an RBI single to left center by Brehm gave the Pioneers a 3-1 advantage that they held on to for the remainder of the contest as Loeshorn would strike out three more batters and not allow another Spartan run.

On the series, the Pioneers posted impressive numbers across the board as the LIU Post tallied 48 runs to 16 by Saint Thomas Aquinas. LIU Post finished the series hitting .357 and totaled 50 hits, 38 RBI, four home runs, 16 doubles and two triples.
