MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The LIU Post baseball team's offense erupted Sunday morning as it ended the Northeast Challenge on a high note by defeating Le Moyne College 14-4 at the Ripken Experience Complex.
 
Taking on the sixth-ranked team in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region Preseason Poll, the Pioneers' 14 runs, 18 hits, 13 RBIs and seven doubles were all early season-highs and for the fourth time in the last five games LIU Post did not commit an error.
 
Senior 
Dave Brehm had a stellar day at the plate going 4-for-6 with four RBIs, two runs, one triple and one double. Senior 
Reynaldo Guillen was also impressive, going 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a double. Sophomore 
Christopher Wasson continued his strong start to the season as he went 4-for-5 with two RBIs, a double and two stolen bases. Sophomore 
Jahsiah Greene went 3-for-6 and added two doubles and an RBI while junior 
Zach Fritz, senior 
Michael Greene and freshman 
David Franchi had one hit each.
 
Freshman 
Joshua Loeschorn earned the win for the Pioneers, pitching five innings and striking out six batters. Junior 
Kurt Rissland pitched three innings and sophomore 
Antonio Deodato pitched one.
 
The Pioneers jumped ahead early; Guillen led off the top of the first with a single up the middle but was then caught stealing with Brehm at bat. After Brehm singled to third base, Fritz doubled to right center and Brehm scored. Greene followed with a double to left center, and Fritz scored to give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead.
 
LIU Post built its lead to 5-0 in the top of the second after senior 
Ryan Dalton and senior 
Jimmy Mendyk scored when Guillen singled to center field. Guillen then scored after Brehm doubled to left center.
 
The Dolphins scored their first run in the bottom of the second but the Pioneers took a 6-1 lead in the top of the third; Mendyk scored after a Wasson single to left field.
 
By the bottom of the seventh, LeMoyne had narrowed the margin to 6-4 but LIU Post's offense erupted in the top of the eighth and put the game out of reach. Wasson and Guillen scored after a Brehm triple to left center and Brehm followed by scoring on a passed ball to give the Pioneers a 9-4 lead. After reaching on a fielder's choice to shortstop, 
Jahsiah Greene scored after a triple to right center by 
Michael Greene. The Pioneers ended the inning with an 11-1 lead 
Michael Greene scored after a sacrifice fly to left field by Franchi.
 
The Green & Gold added three more runs to take the win in the top of the ninth when Dalton scored after a Wasson double to left center, Guillen scored after Brehm singled to center field and Wasson scored after sophomore 
Daniel Keane flied out to center field.
