WALTHAM, Mass. – The 11th-ranked Bentley University Falcons proved to be too much for the LIU Post women's basketball team who suffered its third loss of the season, 74-59 on Saturday, Jan. 5 inside the Dana Athletic Center.

Sasha Patterson led LIU Post with 18 points and eight rebounds, while junior
Dominique Williams posted 12 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting effort
The Falcon defense held the Green and Gold to just 35-percent (20-57) shooting on the day, while Bentley converted 48-percent (29-60) of its shot attempts. Both sides hit seven three-point field goals, though the Falcons made 82-percent (9-11) of its free throw attempts to just 57-percent at the stripe for LIU Post. Bentley held a 43-31 advantage on the glass and garnered a 29-17 edge in bench points.
The Pioneers took an early 9-7 lead against the Falcons after senior
Kyla Formey nailed a three-pointer and Patterson banked in a layup. Bentley stormed back however, using an 11-0 run to take a nine-point lead (16-9) with under two minutes remaining in the first quarter. Another burst by the Falcons stretched the lead to as many as 17 points before the halftime break, but a late free throw by senior
Shannon Doyle made it 36-20 at the intermission.
LIU Post battled back in the third period, cutting the deficit to just eight points (47-39) when redshirt-juniors
Robyn Francis and
Taylah Hudson connected on consecutive three-pointers and Williams knocked down a jumper. Bentley continued to have the response to LIU Post's punches, however, closing the half on a 6-2 scoring burst to extend the lead back to double digits (53-41) at the end of the stanza.
The Green and Gold were unable to cut the deficit to single digits the rest of the way as Bentley outscored the Pioneers in the final quarter, 21-18 to improve to 13-1 overall on the season while the Pioneers fall to 11-3.
LIU Post returns to East Coast Conference action after a three-week layoff when they travel to the University of the District of Columbia on Wednesday, Jan. 9 for a 5:00 p.m. tipoff with the Firebirds.
