Yohance Alexander provided the heroics during the final minute of play, scoring the game's only goal with 36 seconds remaining to lift the LIU Post men's soccer team past Roberts Wesleyan College in East Coast Conference action on Saturday, Sept. 29.
It was a defensive battle for 109 minutes before Alexander tapped in a rebound off a shot by graduate student
Lukas Ostermann to give LIU Post three points in the conference standings. The goal was Alexander's second of the season, while the assist gives Ostermann his league-leading 22nd point.
LIU Post earned a 12-8 advantage in shot attempts, including a 9-6 edge in shots on goal. The biggest advantage came in corner kicks, with the Green and Gold earning 11 to just one for the Redhawks. Senior
Oliver Hessner Hansen stopped all six shots he faced to earn his fourth shutout of the season, lowering his goals-against average to under 1.00 for the first time on the year.
The Pioneers return to the home pitch for just the second time this season when they host Post University on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
