ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – In a close East Coast Conference battle with Molloy College, the LIU Post women's tennis team suffered a 4-3 defeat to the Lions on Friday, Sept. 28.
Molloy earned the doubles point after earning a win by default on the No. 3 court. Senior
Shanice Arthur and sophomore
Veronika Koudelkova defeated Megan Scali and Danielle Bloecker on the No. 1 court, but sophomores
Christina Jud and
Isabelle Bifulco were upended by Mon Le Goupil-Maier and Samantha Bloecker on the No. 2 court for the deciding match.
The Green and Gold attempted to come from behind in singles play when Arthur opened with a 6-0, 6-3 victory on court one against Le Goupil-Maier. Koudelkova and Jud followed suit with straight-set victories at Nos. 2 and 3 singles before the Lions closed out the match with victories at Nos. 4 and 5 singles and earned the clinching point with a win by default at No. 6 singles.
With the loss, LIU Post drops to 1-3 on the season and 1-2 in ECC play. Molloy improves to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in league competition.
The Pioneers return to action immediately when they travel to Queens College on Saturday, Sept. 29 for a 12:00 p.m. matchup with the Knights.
