2018 VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Newly appointed head coach
Stephanie Sheehan announced the 2018 schedule for LIU Post volleyball, a slate that will allow fans plenty of opportunities to catch the Pioneers in action at the Pratt Recreation Center this fall.
The 2018 schedule features 17 home contests, including eight matches in a span of 11 days to begin September. Following an appearance in the 2017 NCAA Division II East Regional, the Pioneers will face eight opponents that joined them in last year's national championship.
The Green and Gold open the year against Franklin Pierce University as part of the Raven First Serve Invitational on Friday, August 24 as part of a four-match set over the weekend that also includes Texas A&M International University, the University of Tampa, and Wilmington University. Following a week-long hiatus, the Pioneers host the annual Long Island Invitational on Saturday September 1 and Sunday September 2, facing Bloomfield College, Le Moyne College, Assumption College, and Post University. The home stand continues the following weekend when national powerhouse Flagler College makes its way north to Brookville to kick off three matches in two days for the Pioneers, as LIU Post hosts East Stroudsburg University and Stonehill College the following afternoon.
East Coast Conference play begins on Wednesday, September 12 when neighboring New York Institute of Technology makes the short trip down Northern Boulevard for the first installment of the Battle of the Boulevard rivalry. The Pioneers return to the road for four contests at Southern Connecticut State University, Adelphi University, Roberts Wesleyan College and Daemen College during an eight-day stretch during the middle of the month before hosting Merc College on Friday, September 28.
LIU Post will make two trips up Interstate-95 in three days when it travels to the University of Bridgeport and defending East Region champion University of New Haven on Saturday, September 29, and Tuesday October 2.
LIU Post will be in friendly territory to close out the regular season, as seven of the final nine matchups on the schedule will be played inside the Pratt Recreation Center, including touch matchups against American International College on Sunday, October 14, Saint Anselm College on Saturday, October 20, and Molloy College on Senior Night Friday, November 2.
The Pioneers will seek their first ECC Conference title when the postseason tournament begins on Friday, November 9, with a champion crowned the following day. LIU Post will hope to see its name in the NCAA Tournament selection show for the second consecutive season when the field is announced on Sunday, November 11.
