Women's Lacrosse Nabs No. 7 Rankings in Both Polls This Week

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Two big wins against St. Thomas Aquinas College and No. 7/9 Mercy College helped the LIU Post women's lacrosse team move to No. 7 in both national polls this week.

The Pioneers improve to the No. 7 spot after bouncing back from a narrow setback to now No. 1/2 Adelphi University. The Green and Gold took down the Spartans 18-2 early in the week before scoring a program-record 25 goals against Mercy in a critical victory with NCAA Tournament implications.

Sophomore Alyssa Mallery was tabbed as this week's East Coast Conference offensive player of the week after recording an ECC season-high and career-high 12 points against the Mavericks with eight goals and four assists.

The Pioneers will look to improve to 7-0 in ECC play on Wednesday, April 18 when they travel to Queens College for a 3:30 p.m. matchup with the Knights.
