BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – An at large-bid to the Division II NCAA Women's Basketball Championship helped the Pioneers earn 25 points in the latest Learfield Directors' Cup standings, putting the Pioneers at No. 13 in the country for the final winter update.
The LIU Post women's basketball team captured the East Coast Conference regular season championship after posting a 17-1 mark in league play. Despite a loss in the ECC semifinals to Northern Boulevard rival New York Institute of Technology, the Pioneers earned the No. 6 seed in the East Regional before falling to the University of the Sciences in the quarterfinals. Despite the loss, the Green and Gold earned points for their appearance and helped LIU Post remain in the top-15 nationally through two seasons of competition.
The Pioneers remain the top-ranked institution in the east region, bettering Stonehill College by 26 spots in the national rankings. Roberts Wesleyan College comes in at No. 2 in the ECC rankings, ranking No. 93 on the national stage.
