BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU Post equestrian team had another strong showing this weekend when the team hosted the Regional Show at the North Shore Equestrian Center March 25.

Five riders saw their season extend thanks to top-two finishes in their respective classes during the show. Junior Jessica Sulkers took the top spot in open flat, while freshman Nicole Palmer added a first-place finish in intermediate flat. Senior Mallory Slack finished just behind Sulkers with a second-place finish in open flat, and earned the same qualifying position in fences. Sophomore Kate Galvin took home first in both novice flat as well as fences and junior Alexandra Blach rounded out the qualifiers with a second-place showing in the walk/trot class. These five Pioneers will now compete at the Zone Championships on Sunday, April 8 at the Bergen County Equestrian Center.

Slack and Sulkers finished second and third, respectively in the year-end open rider placings, while senior Heather Grova finished seventh and freshman Ava Greenbaum added a ninth-place finish.

Greenbaum had an excellent showing at the Regional Show, finishing third overall in open fences. Freshman Jenna Skaferowsky also added a third-place showing in intermediate flat, while junior Chloe Hoerner took third in intermediate fences and fourth in intermediate flat. Sophomore Cara Sappelsa took fourth in novice fences, while classmates Alex Daskam and Nicolette Signorelli also placed in the top-10 during the same event. Senior Alyssa Rehm rounded out the Pioneers with a fifth-place finish in the walk/trot class.
