Equestrian Qualifies for Zone Finals With High-Point Finish Sunday

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU Post equestrian team finished its regular season campaign by holding on to first place in the regional standings after tying for the high point team at the Stony Brook show on Sunday, March 18.
 
With first-place in the region secured, the Pioneers qualify for the Zone finals on Sunday, April 8, where they will compete for a spot in nationals. Two more riders qualified for the regional show on Sunday, giving LIU Post 12 riders competing at the show held in Brookville. The 12 individuals and their corresponding events include:
 
Jessica Sulkers – Open Flat
Mallory Slack – Open Flat & Fences
Kate Galvin – Novice flat & Fences
Nicolette Signorelli – Novice Flat & Fences
Alex Daskam – Novice Fences
Alexandra Blach – WTC
Chloe Hoerner – Intermediate Flat & Fences
Cara Sappelsa – Novice flat
Alyssa Rehm – WTC
Nicole Sinram – Novice Flat & Fences
Nicole Palmer – Intermediate Flat
Jenna Skaferowsky – Intermediate Flat
 
Sulkers opened the day for the Pioneers with a second-place finish in open over fences, with freshman Ava Greenbaum taking third place. Skaferowsky earned a victory in intermediate fences, as Sappelsa and Signorelli earning third-place finishes in their sections. Freshmen Brianna Valente and Hedda Walltott placed first in novice open fences and Sinram earned an individual qualification to regionals with a third-place finish.
 
In the flat classes, Skaferowsky placed first and Sulkers placed second to begin the day. Galvin, Greenbaum and Hoerner swept the intermediate flat events, while Sappesam Signorelli and Valente placing as well. Freshman Ashton Guilfoile added a second-place finish in the novice flat class and sophomore Gianna Perry took third in the same event. Freshman Kaitlyn Seidl closed out the day for the Pioneers with a second=place finish in the walk/trot class.
 
The Pioneers will host the regional show on campus on Sunday, March 25.
