WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference announced its women's volleyball annual award honorees Friday and four members of the LIU Post women's volleyball team garnered recognition by the conference.
Senior outside hitter
Rachel Londot was a first-team honoree for the second-straight year, sophomore right side
Lauren Kloos was named to the second-team while junior setter
Kassie Akouri-Tejedor and junior libero
Abby Eckhardt were named Honorable Mention All-ECC.
The quartet helped LIU Post earn a 19-12 overall record, a 9-5 record in the ECC, the No. 7 ranking in the East Region and the No. 3 seed in the ECC Tournament.
Londot finished the season with 323 kills and averaged 3.05 kills per set to lead the team and finish second and fourth in the conference in both categories. Londot's 49 service aces rank second in both the team and conference while her 0.44 service aces per set rank second on the team and third in the ECC. With 378 digs on the season she also ranks second and seventh on the team and in the conference. Her 3.94 digs per set average is also second on the team and seventh in the ECC.
Kloos was a second-team honoree. She is second on the team kills with 259 and second in kills per set with 2.82. Kloos has a .229 attacking percentage on the season and ranks second on the team sixth in the ECC in both categories. Kloos also has 35 total blocks and 47 digs.
Akouri-Tejedor and Eckhardt were both named Honorable Mention All-ECC. Akouri-Tejedor leads the Pioneers in assists with 608 and assists per set with 6.08; those numbers have her ranked sixth and seventh in the ECC. She also has 58 kills, 42 service aces and 226 digs on the season.
Eckhardt leads LIU Post in digs with 452 and digs per set with 4.26 and is third and fifth in the ECC in those categories. She's also handed out 116 digs which is the third-most of any Pioneer this season.
LIU Post begins play at the ECC Tournament in Amherst, New York tonight when it takes on second-seeded Molloy College (19-7, 11-3) at 8:00 p.m. in a semifinal inside Lumsden Gymnasium.
