WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – Senior goalkeeper
Hillevi Eklow received her second career East Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year honor and eight LIU Post women's soccer players earned All-ECC recognition as announced by the league on Monday, Nov. 5.
The conference coaches voted Eklow as the league's best goalkeeper for the second-consecutive year after the senior netminder posted a 12-3-3 record with a conference-best nine shutouts. Eklow compiled a 0.81 goals-against average while stopping 82.4-percent of shots that she faced. To close out the regular season, Eklow recorded nearly 500-consecutive scoreless minutes, helping the Pioneers to five-consecutive shutouts.
Joining Eklow on the first team was junior midfielder
Gabrielle Clark who netted two goals and two assists on the season.
Junior forward
Julia Duffy led the Green and Gold second team honorees after ranking third in the ECC with 12 goals. Sophomores
Erin O'Connor and
Samantha Gordon, along with senior
Alice Schonfeldt also earned second-team accolades, combining for 14 goals and 14 assists.
Freshmen
Kendra Oldroyd and
Terese Markelund rounded out the Pioneer all-conference honorees. The duo combined for 10 goals and four assists, including five game-winning goals.
The Pioneers will continue their season during the NCAA Division II Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 8. LIU Post earned an at-large bid into the national championship as the No. 5 seed in the East Region and will take on No. 3 seed Southern New Hampshire University at 11:00 a.m. at Sodexo Field on the campus of Franklin Pierce University.
