BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The LIU Post women's equestrian team finished its fall season with a win at its home show Sunday at the North Shore Equestrian Center. The Pioneers prevailed by 47 points and have now won 19-straight shows.
 
Four Pioneers tied for high point rider after placing first in both classes they competed in; senior 
Jessica Sulkers, freshman 
Jackie Davis, freshman 
Miko McGovern and sophomore 
Savannah Giardina. Junior 
Alex Daskam and junior 
Kate Galvin also qualified for regionals.
 
 
The day began with our LIU Post's open riders dominating their classes. Seniors 
Mallory Slack and Sulkers won the over fences portion while junior 
Sam Ayala and sophomore 
Nicole Palmer finished third. On the flat phase Sulkers, McGovern and Daskam topped their classes. Slack finished second and sophomore 
Jenna Skaferowsky finished third.
 
The success continued in intermediate over fences with freshman 
Kara Bromschwig and McGovern finishing first, sophomore 
Hedda Walltott and Galvin finishing second and junior 
Nicole Sinram finishing third. On the flat sophomore 
Brianna Valente and junior 
Cara Sappelsa topped their sections with Walltott, freshman 
Katherine Garcia and Galvin in second. Sinram also finished third.
 
LIU Post's novice riders placed top-three in almost every section. Freshman 
Olivia Butler, freshman 
Jackie Davis, sophomore 
Savannah Giardina and freshman 
Abby Panza all won their jumping classes. Freshman Mikayla Shipman, junior 
Gianna Perry and senior 
Vanessa Finazzo finished second and freshman 
Nicole Shneyder finished third. On the flat Titus, Shipman, junior 
Kassidy Scheuring, Giardina and Davis all won. Shneyder finished second and in third was freshman 
Olivia Butler.
 
To finish the day sophomore 
Sarah Wung won her walk/trot class. Overall, the team won 19 blue ribbons throughout the day and every team member worked incredibly hard to run the show. Some members arrived at 5:00 a.m. to prepare the horses and had the difficult task all day of preparing to compete while managing the horses. The Pioneers continue next spring as it hopes to qualify for zone finals as a team.
