BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU Post women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday, first falling 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22) to Daemen College then dropping a match 3-1 (25-18, 24-26, 25-19, 25-17) to Saint Anselm College inside the Pratt Recreation Center.
The Pioneers came out on top in several statistical categories against the Wildcats; they prevailed in kills 52-43, assists 50-41 and digs 69-62. Against Saint Anselm, LIU Post had 9 kills to 8 by the Hawks.
Daemen Match Rewind
A kill by sophomore
Lauren Kloos got the Pioneers off to a strong start as they raced out to a 6-2 lead, however a 5-0 Wildcat run saw Daemen take a 7-6 lead. Down 18-15, LIU Post used a 6-0 run keyed by a kill from junior
Samantha Colombo to take a 21-18 lead. LIU Post could not hold on as Daemen went on to win the set 25-23.
The second set belonged to LIU Post; with the score tied 14-14 a kill by junior
Lea Brady led off a 3-0 run that saw the Pioneers take a 17-14 lead from which they never looked back. A kill by senior
Rachel Londot on set point saw the Pioneers win 25-22.
A service ace by junior
Abby Eckhardt saw LIU Post take a 10-7 lead in the third set, however LIU Post could not maintain its lead as Daemen went on a 7-0 run that propelled them to a 25-20 victory in the set.
LIU Post took a 6-1 lead in the fourth set after a kill by Kloos, a pair of Colombo service aces and a kill by junior
Kassie Akouri-Tejedor. The remainder of the set played out as a back-and-forth battle but the Pioneers could not hold onto their lead, falling 25-23.

- Akouri-Tejedor handed out a team-high 12 assists
- Londot led the math in digs with 19
- Sophomore Asiya Way had a match-high four block assists and 10 kills
Saint Anselm Match Rewind
The opening set saw Saint Anselm jump out to an 18-10 lead however the Pioneers used a 4-0 run that featured a kill by Kloos, a Colombo service ace and a pair of Hawk attacking errors to narrow the margin to 18-14. LIU Post could not further chip away at the lead as Saint Anselm won the set 25-18.
LIU Post opened the second set with a 7-0 run keyed by a Way kill; The Hawks fought back to level the score 11-11 and eventually took a 24-23 lead. The Pioneers closed the set out with a 3-0 run that featured two kills by Kloos and one by Akouri-Tejedor to win 26-24.
While the Pioneers attempted to battle back from a 21-15 deficit with a 4-0 run that featured kills by Kloos and Akouri-Tejedor along with an Akouri-Tejedor service ace and a double block by Way and junior
Allie Ahearne and Way, Saint Anselm held onto its lead and won 25-19.
The Pioneers struggled out of the gate in the fourth set; the Hawks won it 25-17.
