NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The LIU Post women's volleyball team pushed the University of New Haven to five sets but came up just short Tuesday night as it fell 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 21-25, 17-25, 15-8) inside Charger Gymnasium.
Despite the loss LIU Post came out on top in several statistical categories; the Pioneers had 77 kills to 67 by the Chargers, 59 assists to 52 by New Haven and 88 digs to UNH's 76.
The Pioneers now sit at 11-8 and remain 3-2 in East Coast Conference play.

Lauren Kloos followed as the Pioneers got off to a strong start as the Pioneers led up until the score was tied 8-8. Three more lead changes were to come as the set was the definition of a back-and-forth battle but the eventually Chargers eventually prevailed with with a final score of 25-23.
Down 9-5 in the second set the Pioneers went on an 9-0 run keyed by a kill from freshman
Kiora Ridgeway and featuring a pair of double blocks by Strange and Kloos, two kills by freshman
Aleaha Mokamba and one kill each by senior
Rachel Londot and Kloos that gave them a 14-9 lead. LIU Post maintained its lead and closed the set out with a double block by Londot and Strange then a kill by Kloos from an assist by junior
Kassie Akouri-Tejedor that saw them win with 25-19. As a team the Pioneers recorded 13 kills to nine by the Chargers in the second set along with three blocks to one.
New Haven took a 4-1 lead to open the third set but the Pioneers battled back to tie the score 11-11 after a Kloos kill. While a Mokamba kill tied the score 12-12, the Chargers ended up running away with the set as it ended with a final score of 25-21.
LIU Post never trailed in the third set and raced out to a 3-0 lead after a kills by Londot, Akouri-Tejedor and a UNH attacking error. Ahead 9-6, the Pioneers then used an 8-0 run to further consolidate their lead and hold a 16-6 advantage; it featured kills by Londot, Kloos and Strange along with a pair of Akouri-Tejedor service aces. A kill by Akouri-Tejedor closed the set out as they won 25-17 and pushed the match to a fifth set.
A kill by Londot opened the fifth set but ultimately it belonged to the Chargers. While a kill by Mokamba put the Pioneers within a point, they were down 2-3, UNH ran away with the set and won 15-8.

- Kloos added 16 kills on a .441 attacking percentage and three total blocks
- Akouri-Tejedor had a season and match-high 34 assists and 14 digs
