BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – A hat trick by sophomore
Sammy Bell led the No. 10 LIU Post field hockey team past Franklin Pierce University 5-1 Friday at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
"Great Northeast-10 win for us today," said head coach Raenee Savin. "Rachel made some clutch saves and we connected some great passes which led to to beautiful goals. We had two big wins this week which will guide us into next week with some momentum."
The win moved LIU Post to 8-3 on the season and 7-2 in Northeast-10 action. The Pioneers improved their all-time record against Franklin Pierce to 18-3.

Tarryn Morris and junior
Taylor Brodsky also scored for the Pioneers while senior
Emily Miller added two assists. Sophomore goalkeeper
Rachel Vellis added eight saves, and as a team LIU Post held a 15-11 advantage in shots.
Brodsky put the Pioneers on the scoreboard at 01:41 after she capitalized on a Miller assist. At 06:57 Bell scored her first goal of the contest after taking the ball down the right side of the field and shooting past the goalkeeper.
The Ravens bounced back with a goal of their own at 13:23 but Bell would ensure the Pioneers went into halftime with a 3-1 lead after shooting from the right side of the net after the ball rebounded off the goalkeeper's leg.
Morris gave LIU Post a 4-1 lead after scoring on a penalty stroke at 38:16 while Bell completed her hat trick at 48:07 after Miller took the ball down the right side of the field and dished it off to Bell who put the ball in the back of the net.
