BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The ninth-ranked LIU Post men's soccer team continued its hot start to the 2017 campaign with a 1-0 victory over non-conference opponent Merrimack on Thursday afternoon at Knights Field on the campus of the University of Bridgeport.

The Pioneers (2-0-1) got on the board early as graduate forward Lukas Ostermann (Saterland, Germany) notched his third goal in as many games as he found the back of the net off a through ball by junior Charlie Ledula (London, England) at the 6:28 mark.

This would prove to be the only score on either side for the entirety of the contest.   The two squads were pretty even throughout the match, as both sides took a total of 10 shots with four on goal each.  Additionally, both teams were granted three corner kicks each.

Junior goalie Oliver Hessner Hansen (Vaerloese, Denmark) made three saves on the afternoon with an additional save being made by the Pioneer defense.  His counterpart, Lucas Rezende turned aside three shots while allowing the lone goal for the Warriors (2-1-0).

The Pioneers are back in action at the University of Bridgeport on Saturday, Sept. 9 when they face Southern Connecticut State for a 4 p.m. matchup.
