CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. - For the third time in as many weeks, senior
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) claimed East Coast Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors, as released by the league on Monday.
For the third straight week, Williams was the top finisher out of non-Division II runners, this time as the LIU Post men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NYIT Invitational. Williams finished the 5K course in a time of 18:24.77, less than 10 seconds behind the top Division I runner for a second place finish overall in the 99-runner pool. She led the 66 non-Division I runners by over a minute, as the second place finisher from St. Thomas Aquinas did not cross the line until 19:30.14.
Next weekend (Sept. 23), the Pioneers host the LIU Post Invitational. The women's 5k is set to kickoff at 10 a.m. with the men's 8k following at 11 a.m.
