NORFOLK, Va. (Jun. 28, 2017) - The LIU Post women's swimming team has received Scholar All-America distinction from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, it was recently announced by the organization.
The Pioneers, who compiled a 3.68 grade-point average in the Spring 2017 semester, tied Lindenwood University and Urbana University for the third-highest GPA in Division II.
In all, a total of 720 programs, representing 443 different institutions, attained a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher to earn CSCAA Scholar All-America honors.
Additionally, the green and gold had five swimmers named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team. They were
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany),
Karis Fuller (London, England),
Caitlin Johnstone (Ashburton, New Zealand),
Tove Sparrman (Upplands Väsby, Sweden) and
Eline Swensen (Langhus, Norway).
The selections recognize student-athletes that have posted a grade-point average of 3.5 or better in a full academic year and either competed at their respective NCAA Championship meet or achieved a "B" time standard at a regional competition.
