BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Mar. 8, 2017) - On Wednesday, the LIU Post women's swimming team opened up competition at the 2017 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the CrossPlex in Birmingham.

In the 50-yard freestyle, junior Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) sprinted to a time of 23.50.

Sophomore Karis Fuller (London, England) touched the pad at 10:19.12 in the 1,000-yard freestyle.

Lastly, in the 200-yard medley relay, the team of sophomore Caitlin Johnstone (Ashburton, New Zealand), freshman Tove Sparrman (Upplands Väsby, Sweden), Bendfeldt and Fuller finished at 1:44.81.

Head Coach Michael Travers and the Pioneers are back in action Thursday (Mar. 9) for Day Two of the NCAA Division II Championships at the CrossPlex in Birmingham.
