BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 18, 2017) - The LIU Post men's lacrosse team rode a strong start Saturday to a 10-5 win over Georgian Court University in a non-conference tilt at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

The Pioneers, who improved to 4-4 overall, opened the contest on an overwhelming 9-0 run and never looked back. Junior midfielder Dylan Harned (Selden, N.Y.), sophomore attackman/midfielder Frank Ranfone (Guilford, Conn.) and freshman midfielder Dan Foley (Carmel, N.Y.) notched two goals apiece in the burst.

The Lions (1-7) fought back though and closed the gap to a five-goal game (9-4), but Ranfone scored a man-up tally in the final minutes of the contest to seal the win for the hosts.

Ranfone had three goals and three ground balls in the effort. Foley and Harned each recorded a pair of goals and an assist for a three-point day. Junior midfielder Chris Trasacco (Cheshire, Conn.) added three points (1 G, 2 A), as well.

Sophomore midfielder Michael Licata (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) chipped in a goal and an assist. Freshman midfielder Nick Grassa (North Babylon, N.Y.) dished out a pair of assists.

Sophomore midfielder Connor Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) was a stellar 11-of-12 (91.7 percent) on faceoffs and earned five ground balls. Senior midfielder Anthony Galeotafiore (Wantagh, N.Y.) won 7-of-8 draws (87.5 percent) for LIU Post.

Between the pipes, sophomore goaltender Bryan Ochs (Syosset, N.Y.) made his first start of 2017 and turned aside seven shots. Freshman goalie Austin Geissel (Pompton Plains, N.J.) collected 19 saves for Georgian Court.
