Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder
Alyssa Mallery (Wantagh, N.Y.) were selected as the East Coast Conference Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Kirk, who earned her fifth career weekly honor from the league, posted a 2-0 record with 19 saves and a 6.00 goals-against average in a pair of non-conference games last week.
She led off the week last Wednesday (Mar. 8) with an eight-save performance in a 13-7 victory against Philadelphia. Then, on Sunday (Mar. 12), Kirk recorded a game- and season-high 11 stops in a 10-5 win at No. 19 Stonehill. It was her first double-digit save outing since Mar. 12, 2016.
Meanwhile, Mallery tallied two goals and three assists for a five-point week, in addition to amassing eight ground balls, six draw controls and three caused turnovers.
Mallery had a goal and an assist, along with four draws and four ground balls against Philadelphia last Wednesday.
She followed that up with a one-goal, two-assist showing at Stonehill on Sunday. Additionally, Mallery won four ground balls and two draw controls and forced two turnovers in the contest.
Kirk, Mallery and the Pioneers are back in action Wednesday (Mar. 15), when they take on American International College in a non-conference showdown at 3:30 p.m. in Springfield, Mass.
