East Meadow, NY| Over the weekend, the LIU Post women's swimming team earned a third-place finish at the 2017 ECAC Winter Swimming and Diving Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center at Eisenhower Park.
The Pioneers amassed 696 points at the three-day meet, en route to a third-place finish. The green and gold trailed Wagner College (1,277.50) and Fairfield University (830) for the title.
Karis Fuller won the 200-yard backstroke by three seconds, touching the pad achieving a NCAA "B" cut time of 2:01.26.
Laura Bendfeldt came in third in the 100-yard freestyle, after posting a 51.68 time. Caitlin Johnstone swam the 200-yard breaststroke earning 24 points for the Pioneers clocking in a 2:25.38.
Gene Mendez touch the pad at an eighth-place mark of 2:08.60 in the 200-yard butterfly. The team of Johnstone, Bendfeldt, Tove Sparmann, and Eline Swensen earned a second-place time of 3:31.28.
