PISCATAWAY, N.J.– On Sunday, the LIU Post women's swimming team finished ninth in a pool of 13 Division I teams at the Frank Elm Invitational, hosted by Rutgers University in Piscataway.
Junior Karis Fuller came in sixth and almost broke the program record in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking a 2:00.28 time which was good enough for an NCAA "B" cut.
Senior Laura Bendfelt touched the pad at an NCAA-provisional 51.29 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Freshman Gena Mendez came in 13th with a 2:06.17 time in the 200-yard butterfly.
Lastly, in the 400-yard relay the team of Caitlin Johnstone, Laura Bendfeldt, Cassie St. Angelo, and Tove Sparrman shattered the program record with a 3:31.15 time.
The LIU Post women's swimming team return to action at the ECAC Championships from Dec. 1-3 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
