No. 4 Field Hockey Hosts No. 5 Merrimack in NE-10 Conference First Round on Tuesday

Brookville, N.Y. – The fourth-seeded LIU Post field hockey team will host the fifth-seeded Merrimack College in the first round of the NE-10 Conference Championship at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on Tuesday, October 31 at 1 p.m.

The Pioneers, who finished the regular season with a 15-3 overall record and a 9-3 conference mark, earned the fourth seed with a 2-1 Senior Day victory over #6 Stonehill College on Saturday afternoon.

LIU Post knocked off a Merrimack side that went 11-6 (7-5 NE-10) this season in the teams' only match-up this season, earning a 6-1 victory at home on October 13.

In that match Kaycee Zelkovsky scored a trio of goals as the Pioneers outshot the Warriors 20-5. Sammy Bell, Emily Miller, and Tarryn Morris also tallied.

Merrimack enters the game with a 1.92 goals-against average while scoring at a 3.12 per-game average.

Before play on Tuesday, Miller's 30 goals were second best in the conference, and her game-winning goals (5) were third.

Merrimack's offense this season has been powered by Rylie Hammond who's scored 18 times in 17 matches.

The winner of the match will travel to face the top-seeded St. Anselm in the tournament's semifinal round on Friday, November 3. LIU Post was defeated by the Hawks on October 21.

The conference final is scheduled for Sunday, November 5 on the campus of the highest remaining seed.
