Equestrian Earns Reserve High Point Team for a Second-Straight Week
Medford, N.Y. – The LIU Post equestrian team finished the Hofstra show as reserve high point team again this week after a long day of competing. The team had three more riders qualify individually for regionals and two riders who tied for high point rider of the day.
Katie Galvin qualified herself after winning her novice fences class while
Cara Sappelsa qualified for novice flat when she topped the class.
Alyssa Rehm qualified for walk/trot/canter with her third-place finish as
Alex Daskam and
Nicole Palmer bested both their fences and flat classes giving them both the high point rider title.
The Pioneers started the day strong with
Jessica Sulkers placing second on the flat, while
Heather Grova and
Mallory Slack placed third. Slack also won her fences class with
Ava Greenbaum placing second. Following a second-place performance by Patricia Hession in intermediate fences freshman
Jenna Skaferowsky followed right behind with a third-place finish.
Gianna Perry bested her novice flat class and
Alexandra Blach placed third in her first week in a division.
Cara Sappelsa also placed third in her novice fences class for the team. To finish the day, Danielle Testagrosse finished 3
rd in her walk/trot/canter class and Qing Wang placed first in her walk/trot class for a second week in a row.
The team competes again next Sunday, October 29
th at the co-hosted Molloy/Adelphi horse show at Thomas' School of Horsemanship.
