Hansen and Arthur Claim ECC Weekly Honors

West Babylon, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference (ECC) released its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, and amongst the winners were Junior Oliver Hessner Hansen (men's soccer) and junior Shanice Arthur (women's tennis) who were named Defensive Player of the Week and Player of the Week, respectively, in their sports.
 
Additionally, senior Lukas Ostermann (men's soccer) and sophomore Julia Duffy (women's soccer) appeared on Weekly Honor Rolls.
 
Oliver Hessner Hansen (Sr.) – Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Hessner Hanson tallied two shutouts and posted a 2-0 record for the Pioneers last week. In a 3-0 win over Mercy College on October 18, Hanson was credited with six saves and on October 21 the Vaerloese, Denmark native posted a three-save shutout, his fifth of the season. Hanson is first in the conference in goals-against average (0.97) and save percentage (.824).
 
Shanice Arthur (Jr.) – Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Arthur was unbeaten on the week to help LIU Post wrap up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming ECC Championship. She was 2-0 at No. 2 singles, defeating Andrea Gallardo of Roberts Wesleyan (6-2, 6-2) and Giovanna Paschoalin of Daemen (6-3, 3-6, 6-0). She was also a perfect 2-0 at No. 1 doubles.
 
Lukas Ostermann (Sr.) – Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll
Ostermann registered three points in two games last week playing as a center forward. Ostermann fed Harry Pearse the game-winning goal in the 3-0 win over Mercy College on Wednesday afternoon. The Saterland, Germany would go on to score the game-winner in a 2-0 conference victory over STAC on Saturday afternoon. Ostermann is currently second on the team in goals (8) and points (20).
 
Julia Duffy (So.) – Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll
Duffy registered four points in two games, helping the Pioneers to a 2-0 week. Duffy tallied the game-winning goal last Wednesday and her double helped LIU Post secured the 2-0 win over Mercy.
