Falling behind 12-0 after the first stanza, the Pioneers came out battling in the second half to tie the game. The green and gold first got on the board with a try by senior Frankie Ferrara (Bayport, N.Y.) 42 seconds into the second half. Seventeen seconds later, senior Kari Kyrkjeboe Fredheim (Nannestad, Norway) added a conversion kick to cut the Lions' lead to 12-7. A try by junior Kelsey Silver (Huntington, N.Y.) just under a minute later brought the score to a draw. Neither side would cross the end line over the next three plus minutes until Molloy pulled back ahead thanks to a Caroline Nickels try. But with 20 seconds left to play, Silver carried the ball across the try line for the second time on the day to knot the score at 17-17 and end the contest in a draw.
