SOMERS, Wis. (Sept. 6, 2016) - On Tuesday, CollegeSwimming.com announced its 2016-17 Division II Preseason All-America selections, and LIU Post junior Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) was chosen for the honor in the 50-yard freestyle.

Last year, Bendfeldt earned All-Metropolitan Conference kudos and qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in the 50-free. She also won the event at three regular-season meets and clocked NCAA "B" cuts in the stroke at the Frank Elm Invitational and ECAC Championships.

Additionally, Bendfeldt swam to All-Met accolades in five other events and All-America praise in the 200-yard freestyle relay in her sophomore campaign.

Bendfeldt and the Pioneers open the 2016-17 season on Saturday, Oct. 22, when they travel to New Britain, Conn. to face Central Connecticut State University at 1 p.m.
