KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 6, 2016) - On Tuesday, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its NCAA Division II Women's Top-25 Poll, and LIU Post was ranked 20th.
This marks the first time since the first regular season poll of 2015 that the Pioneers (2-0) have cracked the Top-25.
The green and gold are coming off a pair of convincing wins over Southern New Hampshire University and American International College at the SCSU Women's Soccer Classic, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University last week.
In the opener against SNHU, three different Pioneers scored their first collegiate goals, as sophomores
Alice Schonfeldt (Burtrask, Sweden) and
Isabella Fuduli (East Meadow) and freshman
Veronica Saager (East Islip, N.Y.) all notched markers in the win. Sophomore keeper
Hillevi Eklow (Väröbacka, Sweden) made eight saves in net.
In their second game, Fuduli got things started in the opening minute. After AIC tied it midway through the first half, freshman
Julia Duffy (Oceanside, N.Y.) netted the eventual game-winning tally to make it 2-1.
Head Coach
Mark Dawson and the Pioneers return to action on Wednesday (Sept. 7), when they host Southern Connecticut State University in their 2016 home opener. The match is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
