MANSFIELD, Mass. (Sept. 6, 2016) - After intercepting a pair of passes in a season-opening victory at Virginia Union, LIU Post football red-shirt junior defensive back Jared Chester (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Both of his interceptions occurred in plus-territory, the latter of which came at the Pioneers' 12-yard line in a one-possession game with 9:19 left in the fourth quarter.

In addition, Chester made seven tackles (two solo, five assist) and broke up three passes in the win.

Chester and the Pioneers are back in action Saturday (Sept. 10), when they face NE-10 rival University of New Haven in their 2016 home opener at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 1 p.m.
