Tolgyesi Named NE-10 Special Teams Player of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. (Sept. 26, 2016) - After drilling the game-winning field goal Saturday, LIU Post sophomore kicker Joey Tolgyesi (Miami, Fla.) was recognized as the Northeast-10 Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.

Tolgyesi split the uprights from a season-best 34 yards out as time expired to send the Pioneers to a 27-24 victory against Bentley. He also averaged 39.0 yards per punt and made both of his extra-point attempts in the win.

In 2016, Tolgyesi has made 3-of-6 field-goal tries. His long of 34 yards ranks third-best amongst NE-10 kickers. Additionally, Tolgyesi has pinned his opposition twice inside the 20-yard line on punts.

Tolgyesi and his LIU Post side return to the gridiron Saturday (Oct. 1), when they travel to Worcester for a 1 p.m. opening kickoff at NE-10 rival Assumption College.
