EASTON, Mass. (Sept. 10, 2016) - On Saturday, the 20th-ranked LIU Post women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Stonehill College at Skyhawk Field in Easton.

The Pioneers (2-1-1) outshot the Skyhawks (4-0) in the contest, 10-9, but both teams had four shots on goal.

In the 36th minute, Stonehill's Lydia Beiter (Newtown, Conn.) knocked in a loose ball on the left side into an open net.

The Pioneers had their share of scoring opportunities in the first 45 minutes. However, senior goalie Jamie Block (Georgetown, Mass.) made three first-half saves for the Skyhawks.

In the latter session, Stonehill turned up the defense, allowing just one Pioneer shot in the final 45 minutes.

Sophomore keeper Hillevi Eklow (Väröbacka, Sweden) finished with three saves for LIU Post, which owned a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.

Head Coach Mark Dawson and the Pioneers return to the pitch on Wednesday (Sept. 14), when they face third-ranked University of Bridgeport in their 2016 East Coast Conference opener at 4 p.m. at Pioneer Soccer Park.
