BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 27, 2016) - On Thursday, LIU Post senior
Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District First Team.
During the cross country season, Stirling garnered All-East Coast Conference first-team and USTFCCCA All-East Region honors. She recorded a sixth-place finish of 18:18.05 at the ECC Championships and added a 19th-place showing (22:24.03) at the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Championships.
Stirling also ran the team's sixth-fastest 5k mark (18:54.65) at the LIU Post Invitational on Sept. 19 and tied the program's fifth-best time (19:24.1) for a 5k at Van Cortlandt Park at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 21.
Stirling later went on to receive All-ECC distinction in a pair of events at the league's outdoor championships. She won the 5,000-meter run in 18:11.02 to claim a spot on the All-ECC First Team and helped the Pioneers' 4 x 800-meter relay to an All-ECC second-team nod with a second-place 10:07.50 clocking.
In the classroom, Stirling posted an unblemished 4.0 grade-point average in her graduate coursework, after carrying a 3.6 undergraduate GPA in Biology.
